1980’s arcade games-Altered Beast

By the late 1980’s the graphics of video games were certainly far superior to what they were at the start of the decade. 1988’s Altered Beast had me soaking in it’s then cool graphics the first time I played it. It wasn’t just how it looked that made this game a winner. Your guy could turn into well, yeah different beasts and fight undead creepies and other monsters in ancient Greece. As a fan of both mythology and monsters I loved this game from the start. It’s a side scrolling action/fighter but the sights and sounds really make it a winner. Definitely one of the best games of the late 1980’s.

I have watched far too many horror and sc-fi shows in my life. Now I feel the need to share this wealth of knowledge and make others suffer.

My uncle had this on his Sega system. It looked incredible at the time.

  2. Judging it against other games of the teams the graphics were even like 3-4 years ahead of their time.
